project: molding leather

This is an old technique that is being lost today amongst the cheap formed plastics & vinyls of today!

But at Keable Leather it’s an art form that is being revived and with the imagination and knowledge of how this process is done you can …virtually mold the correct type of leather to any shape or form and then apply the colour/s of your choice followed by putting back into the leather the correct natural oils and finishing with a final coat of sheen water protection or use a fine leather dressing to keep your new product in great condition for years to come.  From the early centuries during the times of the vikings to medieval knights of battle, the equestrian industry onto the to the fashion houses of the world today…. leather in its natural form is one very beautiful product with its distinct smell, feel and durability. The process of hand molding leather is being practiced here at Keable Leather and the items on display are an interpretation of my creation of  a Harley Davidson’s ROAD KINGS Armor.

This 100% veg tanned top-grain leather armor is not fully cured to the standards of the medieval times as the need to take that full process may to some degree spoil the life-span and elegant looks of the product. Nether the less the functionality of the keableleather.com.au motorcycle armor is superb,  high quality up to 10oz or 4mm thick, stitched, dyed and finished with a mink or neatsfoot oil and finally a  complete snow proof dressing is polished into the surface.
