Jason Keable (founder – in memory of my late father G.W.Keable  1925-2012)

The story begins……..

It was way back in the 1950’s when my father George William Keable first picked up a piece of leather, today his plaited belts are now considered a prize possession.
I learned his techniques and have reproduced his skillfully and quality finish to bring you original Keable Leather belts and products.

George was born in Poplar – England in the year 1925 , he told only a few stories of his childhood and reflected on his ill health and that his family was not well off, one story told of a daily walk down to the rail lines where he and his brothers would gather rocks and pelt them at passing coal trains, the boiler attendants would in return throw pieces of coal back at the running scoundrels in an attempt to scare them from their behavior.  But it was a survival plan the lads had in place, the coal train would pass and the boys would return to gather the lumps of coal to take home to keep the fire burning to provide warmth and a means of cooking.

By the time he turned 13 he was very ill and the doctors told his mother that the London climate, pollution and atmosphere would lead to a very short life.

George was placed on a boat that very same year bound for a new life in Australia.
